Spent most of the summer across the pond enjoying our precious time with family ~ boy do I miss them! In between seeing everyone I spent some time shopping, even though it was only about 6 months sine my last trip I still found many new and wonderful things. So…I’ve been having some fun creating with my new stuff.
This post will focus on the sizzix die by Tim Holtz with the beautiful bird and flowers. I wanted to see how many things I could come up with; however, there is just not enough free time to play.
This first one is just a basic, easy to put together quick card that anyone could do. And yet it’s still beautiful. Monochromic using using SU Night of Navy paper.
The next one I wanted to use some new embossing powder by Allure called Fractured Ice. I’ve recorded some of the steps. The next photo shows the back ground I created with distress oxide inks. Cracked pistachio, broken china, faded jeans, and wilted violet. Once I got the colours together, I spritzed pearl mist cosmic shimmer. Now the finished project after adding some bling. And my last project turned out nothing like I had anticipated. I was going to cut the bird and flowers apart and do a couple of different projects; however I got sidetracked and ended up wanting to use the oxide inks on the black card. I sponged the different colours on and then added crazing medium. It kept that chalky appearance. Meanwhile I created the background with a text stand and shadow grey archival ink, then layered the die image in to it. I thought it needed something fun ~ you can see what I added. Anyway, pretty surprised by the outcome.
Not sure which is my favourite, seems to be pretty versatile. What do you think?
Hope you’re enjoying the last bits of summer! But leave time for your creative side too!
